Baja California is a peninsula just south of San Diego. Its culture is vibrant, colorful and lively. Its food—bold and spicy.

 

The Baja calendar was a promotional piece created for a San Diego-based printing company. The calendar was designed as a poster that would be cut into 12 individual pieces, so that objects and textures were cropped but could be put back together to tell the whole story. The individual pieces were coil-bound and meant to be a journey through the rich and diverse peninsula, offering a taste of Baja. Fascinating facts, set on sticky notes, note paper and torn paper pieces, emphasize the idea of quickly jotting down ideas and impressions while traveling. Screened back letters, excerpts of travel books on Baja, scanned objects and textures give dimension to the layout. The typeface Interstate reinforces the idea of travel.
